Fall is such a fun time of year to dress for because you can still wear dresses or you can layer up with jeans and cardigans, depending on how the weather is that day. Since it’s still early fall and the weather is still fairly warm in New York, I wanted to focus today’s post on dresses that are perfect for transitioning out of summer and into fall. It’s no secret that I’m a big dress girl. I think dresses are the easiest thing to wear because you can just throw on one piece of clothing and instantly look put together. I truly believe there’s a dress for every occasion. That’s why I wanted to share 5 dresses that I am loving right now (all under $50) and that I think would be perfect for wherever your plans take you this fall! I also shared some tips on how I would style them, and put links to different shoes and accessories. Let me know in the comments which one is your fav!
Fall trends: stripes, “foliage” colors, long sleeves, ribbing, buttons
Where to wear: Any fall activities! Apple picking, taking a walk in the park, or just sipping on a PSL.
How I would style it: I love how it’s styled in the picture with white sneakers. I would also add a denim jacket around the waist to break up the stripes a bit, and I think a short gold necklace would look really pretty with the scoop neckline.
Fall trends: Dark-ground floral, velvet, high neck
Where to wear: Date night or a night out with friends!
How I would style it: I am loving how versatile this dress is! The velvet makes it feel perfect for fall, but the cut makes it great for the warmer fall days. I would pair it with little black booties and a leather jacket for nighttime.
Fall trends: Orange color, pockets
Where to wear: I think this is the perfect weekend dress because you could dress it down in the morning to wear it while running errands, then dress it up at night to meet up with friends!
Fall trends: Corduroy, jewel-tone, layering
Where to wear: Anywhere that’s casual but you want to feel put together: lunch with friends, daytime date, etc.
How I would style it: I have to say I think the jumper trend is so adorable and I love how you can layer them with lots of different tops! A striped shirt is the obvious choice, but I think it would also look cute over a collared button-up or even just a white tee! For shoes I would keep it casual with suede sandals or slides, and maybe add in a headband to play into the cute, feminine vibe.
Fall trends: Dark-ground floral print, midi length, sleeve interest
Where to wear: The midi cut makes this dress very work-appropriate so it would be a great pick for looking stylish in the office.
How I would style it: This is definitely a statement dress so you don’t need too many accessories. I would pair it with some simple pearl earrings and add a pretty pink lipstick. For shoes, I think a pale pink or nude ballet flat would be a perfect complement to the dress without taking too much attention away from it.
