Mexico Travel Guide and Outfit Roundup

Today I’m sharing all the details on my most recent trip to the beautiful Puerto Moreles, Mexico! I had been wanting to go on a tropical getaway for a long time because A. I had never gone one one and B. I had never stayed at an all-inclusive resort. So I finally decided to check both of these off the list!

Now since I had done a big trip to Europe only six months ago (you can read more about my travels to Lake Como here, Florence here, and Paris here) I didn’t exactly have a huge budget for another vacation, so I made this trip as budget-friendly as possible. I opened the Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card last fall, and used the 50,000 point bonus to cover two round-trip flights to Cancun. Then when looking for resorts, I ended up choosing a Groupon deal that was significantly cheaper than anything I found booking directly with a resort. Here are all the details:

Where we stayed:

We stayed at Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort and the link to the Groupon deal we booked through is here. When looking on Groupon, there were a few resorts that had good reviews, but I ultimately ended up choosing this one because they recently opened a sister resort called Ventus and when you stay at either resort you have complete access to the pools, resturants, and bars at both so it’s really like getting two for the price of one! I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a budget-friendly vacation. It had everything we needed – beach, pools, activities, even 24-hour room service (included!). The only negative thing I could think to say is the food was pretty mediocre, but I feel like that’s expected at an all-inclusive. Plus, as a vegetarian, I had less options at the restaurants so that definitely helped form my opinion.

What I Packed:

I shared my complete packing list in this post but I also wanted to share links to specific items, which you’ll find below. Keeping with the theme of vacation-on-a-budget, almost everything I bought for my trip was on sale and most of my swimsuits were under $50! If you have anymore specific questions, let me know in the comments below!
